We know in DBZ the characters lacked lifting strength quite a lot, Base Goku couldn't curl 40 tons attached to his limbs while in mid air. But the God tiers seem to be on a whole other category by themselves. How much do you think the current Super trio could lift at max? -SSJG Goku -Beerus -Whis -SSJGSSJ Goku/Vegeta (future characters) -Golden Frieza (future character) |

If we're going by BOG, then they can't lift a 1,000 tons or so from the cave-in without going SSJ |

I recall Goku lifting several thousands of tons in Super while training with King Kai. It's probably just a gag, but considering that, who knows how strong he is as a SsjG. |
Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?! Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power. | |

How do we know Goku was lifting several thousand tons though? Is there any proof for it? |

This thread is all well and good. But why do people keep making Super/BoG-RoF threads in the Dragonball / Dragonball Z Area, when there is a Dragonball Super area?

Why can't it be possible ? Goku wore 4 armbands(I don't really know what they're called). These 4 armbands were 40 tons, so each armband is 10 tons. He was pushing 5 of them. How much do you think they would weigh ? Gravity is also a factor, remember that King kai's planet has 10x earth's gravity. Edited by Notaka, Oct 10 2015, 02:27 PM.

Honestly all we have is BoG, so I think we're gonna have to go with that. @Notala It's also possible that he can bench press every planet in existence but we haven't seen anything like that. Plus Goku has done similar feats as a child... And that turned out to be less than 40 tons. I can't really say anything except it's heavier than 40 tons in this pic most likely. Edit: Notaka do you say how much you weigh where you are our how much you weigh on Mars? It's there's an image of them having that number (which I'm assuming he brought from Earth, if it's King Kai the labeled weight should be correct), then that should be multiplied by ten, if the characters say something about how much it weighs, then I think we can take them on their word. They literally stated that he was lifting 40 tons. Mass doesn't change, I'm aware of that. But if you're able to, let's say, be able to lift 100 kg in 10x gravity earth, how much would you think you would be able to lift ? If he lifts 1 ton in king kai's planet he could very well be able to lift 10 ton or more. |

Mass doesn't change, just the weight, ( that is, the force the object exerts downwards because of gravity), if you can lift ten tons on Earth you can lift ten Tons anywhere, the problem is that objects that would be 10 tons on Earth would be a hundred on King Kai's planet. The amount of weight you can lift doesn't change, but the particular objects you can lift do. As an example if someone lifts a car that was stated on Earth to weigh 2 tons on King Kai's planet, then he's lifting 20 tons. When he's back on Earth he can lift a train car that weighs 20 tons, but if he attempts to lift the train car on King Kai's planet he won't be able to, as he's trying to lift 200 tons. Assuming that 20 tons is the max he can lift anyway. Edited by Tinny, Oct 10 2015, 02:44 PM.

Yeah, but then lazerbem said that how does that make 1,000 tons. 40 ton was the exact mass of these armbands,King kai stated it. He didn't state something like: "How about 4 tons ? Since Gravity here is 10x earth's, it will look like you're lifting 40 tons". He said this: Chapter: 428 (DBZ 234), P8.5-7, P9.1, P10.1-2 Context: after Kaio asks to change Goku’s weights to 10 tons Goku: “10 tons!? I dunno, that might be a little too much even for me…I wouldn’t be able to move.” [ ] North Kaio: “You can become a Super Saiyan” Goku: “Ah, well then it’s perfectly alright!” [ ] South Kaio: “Te-10 tons! That comes to 40 tons of weights in total! Is this really OK?” [ ] *Goku becomes a Super Saiyan* Goku: “It’s easy, easy!” South Kaio: “…” That's 40 tons, plus gravity of earth 10x. He could lift 400 tons in earth. Edited by Notaka, Oct 10 2015, 02:53 PM.

Objects that are ten tons on King kai's planet are a mere one ton on Goku's planet. They never mentioned Earth, so why would they be referring to Earth's gravity? Why not the gravity of the planet they're on at the moment? That's to where the objects are that's where Goku is lifting them. Pretty much the only thing I can imagine is Goku being stupid and not realizing that you need to add a zero on King Kai's planet, but then why would the South Kai go along with that? And btw, it doesn't look like he's lifting 40 tons he is lifting 40 tons. They'd be four on Earth yes, but that's why they're on King Kai's planet in the first place. Like it comes down to this, do they have any reason to default to Earth weight instead of the planet they're on at the moment? They don't. Goku can lift 40 tons as a super saiyan. He can lift 40 tons on Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Alpha Centari, anywhere. If it was really 400 then king Kai would have said so. And no, weight in general does not change, it's the weight of objects that change. Goku can lift more stuff on Earth, because Earth's stuff is lighter. 40 tons is the same no matter the planet you are on. What changes is which objects come out to 40 tons. If you're on a planet where pencils weigh as much as dumbbells, then you can lift dumbbells on Earth, it does not mean you can lift cars. Am I making any sense or am I terrible at explaining this? In any case we don't know how much those things weigh, and size isn't a decent indicator of weight, see Dragon Ball. Edited by Tinny, Oct 10 2015, 03:09 PM.
